Passage of the Day - October 21, 2010

Acts 3:13-16

¹³"The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified His servant Jesus, the one whom you delivered and disowned in the presence of Pilate, when he had decided to release Him.

 ¹⁴"But you disowned the Holy and Righteous One and asked for a murderer to be granted to you,

 ¹⁵but put to death the Prince of life, the one whom God raised from the dead, a fact to which we are witnesses.

 ¹⁶"And on the basis of faith in His name, it is the name of Jesus which has strengthened this man whom you see and know; and the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect health in the presence of you all.

There is that word again – faith.  Humility, boldness, and sacrifice are useless without faith.  Faith in Christ gives us what is more important – a focus.  Not overvaluing ourselves is not as important as properly valuing God and His Son Jesus.  Being bold to get our message across is self glorifying; being bold to get God’s message of redemption across without fear is God glorifying.  Sacrificing ourselves for anything or anyone besides God and His glory is foolishness; sacrificing ourselves for the sake of the Name of Christ is the pinnacle of wisdom.
